
The Employee of the Year Award for the City of Nyssa is presented annually. The award recognizes an individual who goes above and beyond the call of duty in executing his or her responsibilities.
Police Chief Rick Stokoe was presented the award as employee of the year for 2010 for the City of Nyssa. Rick joined the City of Nyssa staff in April of 2009 after previous Chief Lenny Elfering retired.
Rick was the Undersheriff in Caribou County Idaho prior to taking the Chief's Position here. He is certified in both Idaho and Oregon.
He holds executive, management, and supervisor, advanced, intermediate and basic certifications. He has also received certifications from the FBI Command Institute and the Rural Executive Management Institute. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and he is currently on the board of director's of the Oregon association of Chiefs of Police.
Fellow employee Greg Armenta commented “He is one that leads from the front and never asks you to do anything he would not do.”
City Manager Roberta Donovan said “Rick has brought many positive changes to the Nyssa Police Department and continues to support us in all aspects of the city; he never hesitates to help out in all departments.
Rick takes on a proactive attitude with his job and he takes his job seriously and maintains integrity while doing his job. He takes charge and gets it done.
Rick is an asset to the City of Nyssa and he is very much appreciated! The City is proud to honor Rick Stokoe as Employee of the Year!
