Nyssa is fond of Nyssa... Minimize

A Memory of Nyssa from Nyssa M.:
While I have never lived in the town of Nyssa, Oregon, I have been to visit Nyssa a couple of times. I first visited the town of Nyssa when I was around 10 years old, I am now 27. My family and I live in Illinois and we traveled to Nyssa one summer stopping and seeing many other states on our way. I was the most excited about visiting Nyssa because my name is Nyssa and I thought that this was the coolest thing in the world. When we got closer to Nyssa I can remember that I got so excited I couldn’t wait to get out of the car and explore the town that had the same name as I did. The first place that we stopped was at the Welcome to Nyssa sign. I got my picture taken in front of the sign and then we went on to check out the rest of the town. I can remember wanting to have my picture taken in front of everything in town that had Nyssa on it. I can also remember everyone in the town was so friendly and has so happy to help us. They would answer questions that we had about town and they helped us find some things that had the name Nyssa on it. I remember I got a piggy bank that said rainy day money Oregon and we found someone that was nice enough to write Nyssa, Oregon on the piggy bank for us. I also got a t-shirt that said Nyssa High School Bulldogs. I thought that it was neat because the school that I went to Illinois was also the Bulldogs. I still have both of these and I keep them in a very safe place so that I can always remember my first trip to Nyssa, Oregon. My second visit to Nyssa, Oregon I was older and I remember a lot more about the town. I was 17 and this time we didn’t travel by car to Nyssa, Oregon we flew into Las Vegas and drove from Las Vegas to Nyssa. I can remember it was a Sunday when we arrived and there weren’t many people out and about the day that we were there. I had my picture taken in front of the Welcome to Nyssa sign again. We also went and drove through the town. We saw a few people out so we stopped and talked to them about things that were happening in town and where we might be able to get items that said Nyssa, Oregon on them. They helped to find someone in town that made a lot of the shirts for the schools and she was able to make me a shirt and a hat that said Nyssa, Oregon home of the Bulldogs on them. We also received a couple of coffee mugs that said Nyssa, Oregon on them. I still also have the cups, the shirt, and the hat. These items are very special to me because I loved my visits to Nyssa. They also hold a lot of memories about the town and the people in Nyssa. Even to this day I think that it cool that there is a town named Nyssa because I never thought that I would hear of anything or anyone that had the same unique name as me.

I may have never been a member of your community but I wanted to tell my story of visits to Nyssa, Oregon. I know just from the couple of visits that I have made to your town that the people are very friendly and they also very willing to help anyone that visits your town. I think that it is great that Nyssa is such a great community. While I am not sure when I will get back to visit the town of Nyssa I sure that I want to be able to soon, I now have kids of my own and I would love to bring to visit your town. Not only because it has the same name as their mom but also because I want them to be able to see what a great community it is and how the people that live in the town are great people. It has been about 10 years since my last visit I am sure that the people that live in Nyssa are just as friendly and kind. I also wanted to thank you for being so great each time I did visit Nyssa, Oregon.

Thank You,

Nyssa M.
